Emily has been a strong, reliable member of the Dream Project since Winter 2011. Emily stepped up as a High School Lead/Liaison for Global High School after some changes in leadership there, and continued on as a High School Lead/Liaison for Auburn High School for the cohort (three quarters) after that. The Dream Project was only in its second year at Auburn High School and Emily faced many challenges during her time there. Emily and her co-lead went above and beyond; they met many times with administration at Auburn High School, as well as set up extra times for mentors to meet with their mentees outside of the Dream Project visits.
After being a High School Lead/Liaison, Emily continued in the Dream Project as a High School Lead Manager, where she supported almost 40 new High School Lead/Liaisons and their struggles being a leader in the program. During this time, Emily also stepped in as a Class Lead for EDUC 360 and led a series of exciting lectures for returning Dream Project mentors.
With the start of the Dream Project College and Career Readiness Assistants (CCRAs) program, Emily again filled in a role where she was needed. While the Dream Project has traditionally only worked in high schools, Emily took the initiative and worked as a CCRA at Olympic Middle School: work we’ve never done before. Emily is also the only CCRA to teach a class and develop the curriculum on her own.
