Leny Valerio-Buford has been with the University of Washington Upward Bound Program with the Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity since 1991. She started off as a Counselor with various responsibilities including teaching College Prep courses and aiding in college applications and scholarship searches, just to name a few.
In 2001, Leny became Director of the program, but still continues to host workshops for the students and maintains a presence in their lives. Throughout the years, she has touched the lives of hundreds of underserved high school students in the Seattle School District. Leny holds a B.A. in Education and an M.A. in British Literature. She’s also a gardening enthusiast.
