Rachel first joined Dream Project as a mentor at Foster High School and she has prospered in the program ever since. Of her various roles that she has held in Dream Project, her time as a 9th and 10th grade outreach lead is where she really stood out as a leader. The position was designed to connect Dream Project mentors to 9th and 10th grade students and get them excited about college and post-high school graduation life.
Before Rachel took over the position, the portfolio had been in a lull and no work was currently being done. She transitioned straight into the 9th and 10th grade portfolio and demonstrated this through her ability to take initiative; it took only a few meetings for her to integrate herself into leadership.
She has given structure to the 9th and 10th portfolio for future leads to follow by creating an established curriculum with detailed lesson plans and activities that have been proven successful. Nonetheless, she continues to seek ways to improve by continuously meeting with school administration. Currently, Rachel continues to stay committed to the Dream Project by supporting her successor and transitioning them into her role.
