Sarah is a Resident Adviser in McMahon Hall. As an RA, Sarah works closely with a floor of UW students. She serves as a resource for them, helping them through any personal or academic issue they may have. She helps them create connections with both the campus community, and with other students on her floor and in the building. She hosts social and educational events for her residents, working hard to make sure that each resident feels valued, included, and connected during their time at UW.
In this way, Sarah’s contributions to the University of Washington are significant. Many students have Sarah to thank, in part, for their ability to be successful at the UW. Sarah’s floor is composed of students who elected to live in a community of others who are either majoring or interested in the arts.
Because of this, Sarah works hard to provide additional opportunities for her residents to engage in their interest in the arts. She has brought musical groups in to perform, taken residents to on- and off-campus art venues, hosted performance nights, and hosted visual art nights, allowing her residents to express themselves creatively together.
Because of Sarah’s efforts, her residents have made excellent connections with like-minded individuals—connections that are certain to outlive the short year residents will spend on her floor. Sarah is a caring leader, and greatly deserves this recognition.
