Tuesday Kuykendall has been at the University of Washington for over eight years. She received her Bachelors of Science here in Physics as well as her Masters here in Materials Science. Tuesday has been working as the Lab Manager of the Materials Science and Engineering lab facilities. She prepares all of the junior labs and has even written the entire MSE Lab Course Manual herself. As one of the very few women in her field, Tuesday inspires and motivates the female undergrad students in the MSE department. She really holds her own amongst her mainly male colleagues and demonstrates all of the leadership qualities of a dedicated and passionate scientist and engineer.
Tuesday makes a huge impact everyday by being friendly with all the students, providing great resources, and always having a positive attitude. The amount of knowledge she holds from her related fields to all the equipment and machines in the MSE labs is admirable. It is also commendable how she presents herself; women in science are often given a nerdy stereotype, but you would never know it from Tuesday’s fashion sense and demeanor. Tuesday is an amazing woman, intellectual, scientist, wife and mother and serves as a role model for everyone in her field.
