In the world of Student Affairs, the right campus partners are critical to providing students the best possible UW experience. In the world of campus partners, it doesn’t get much better than Bree Callahan. As Director of Disability Resources for Students, Bree has demonstrated an eagerness to partner and help her colleagues around campus learn more about the students we serve. She does so with humor, a practical approach, and a willingness to meet people where they’re at in their knowledge of issues of access, resources, and best practices.
Whether lending her expertise on the burgeoning trend of comfort animals or engaging in discussion on the depiction of people with disabilities in the media, Bree demonstrates passion for her work and a lightness that makes it easy for others to step into her world. In her short time here at the UW so far, she’s had a tremendous impact on fellow staff, and it is my pleasure to nominate her as an Outstanding UW Woman.
