|Feben currently holds the Executive Director position for the student group, Students Expressing Environmental Dedication (SEED). The Executive Director position bears the weight of the group and she has taken on that role with an amount of skill and humility beyond any student leader I have ever worked with. In the brief time I have known Feben, I have witnessed countless moments of exemplary leadership. She has the unique ability to orchestrate a group to move forward with both clear direction and humor. It is a joy to see her rally up her peers when investment is low and get them on tract when energy is high. Being new to sustainability initiatives, it was extremely helpful to work with a student open to engaging in these conversations in an approachable way. I believe Feben’s ability to create a welcoming environment about sustainability has helped both increase and maintain a high level of membership satisfaction. With all of the above considered, Feben is incredibly deserving of a Celebrating UW Women nomination.
|I am nominating Feben as she is one of the most hardworking and passionate people I know. Feben is filled with ambition which shows through her work as an Executive Director of S.E.E.D. and an officer for the Association of Black Business Students. She also excels in her academics, going above and beyond what is expected of her. Her drive landed her an internship this summer at Boeing. She is also extremely genuine and very supportive of others. Every time I see her, she always has a smile on her face and an optimistic attitude. Even with a busy schedule, she still finds time to provide for her family. She strives to maximize her leadership potential, and constantly finds new ways to challenge herself stepping out of comfort zone in order to develop into a well-rounded person.
