Julia Proctor

Julia is a Resident Adviser in Haggett Hall.  As an RA, Julia works closely with a floor of UW students.  She serves as a resource for them, helping them through any personal or academic issue they may have.  She helps them create connections with both the campus community, and with other students on her floor and in the building.  She hosts social events for her residents, working hard to make sure that each resident feels valued, included, and connected during their time at UW.  In this way, Julia’s contributions to the University of Washington are significant.  Many students have Julia to thank, in part, for their ability to be successful at the UW.  Julia’s floor is composed mostly of students who belong to the UW Honors Program, and elected to live in an Honors-specific community.  Because of this, Julia works hard to provide additional opportunities for her residents to engage around their shared experience within the Honors Program.  Julia has brought in Honors advisers for convenient in-hall advising sessions, has connected her students to the Honors Program Director and Dean of Undergraduate Programs, and is currently planning a panel for those of her students interested in studying abroad.  Because of Julia’s efforts, her residents have made excellent connections with like-minded individuals—connections that are certain to outlive the short year residents will spend on her floor.  Julia is a caring leader, and greatly deserves this recognition.
