Melanie Ministerio

Melanie is a Resident Adviser in Haggett Hall.  As an RA, Melanie works closely with a floor of UW students.  She serves as a resource for them, helping them through any personal or academic issue they may have.  She helps them create connections with both the campus community, and with other students on her floor and in the building.  She hosts social events for her residents, working hard to make sure that each resident feels valued, included, and connected during their time at UW.  In this way, Melanie’s contributions to the University of Washington are significant.  Many students have Melanie to thank, in part, for their ability to be successful at the UW.  Melanie’s floor is composed of students who elected to live in a community of others who are interested in global communities and having global experiences.  Because of this, Melanie works hard to provide additional opportunities for her residents to engage in their global interests.  She has organized trips to Seattle’s International District, hosted culture exchanges on her floor, and also helps organize UW’s quarterly Global Food & Culture Night, which is a major partnership between her community, UW Dining, and FIUTS.  Because of Melanie’s efforts, her residents have made excellent connections with like-minded individuals—connections that are certain to outlive the short year residents will spend on her floor.  Melanie is a caring leader, and greatly deserves this recognition.
