Julie Larsen is an invaluable and dynamic member of First Year Programs and Undergraduate Academic Affairs as a whole. A jack of all trades, she has worked both inside and outside of student affairs in a variety of functional areas. She fully commits to the mission, vision, and values of all the programs she supports. She has contributed to the personal and professional growth of student leaders and staff alike.
As a lead for the First-year Interest Group program, her drive to assist new students to engage, thrive, and learn is apparent through her individual student interactions and curriculum development. She sets high expectations for the FIG Leaders and empowers them to be advocates in the classroom.
Working with the Diversity and Inclusion Council, Julie leads with compassion and sensitivity, educating peers around issues of social justice and advocacy.
Nationally, Julie supports students through the LeaderShape program. Working to ‘transform the world by increasing the number of people who lead with integrity and a healthy disregard for the impossible.’ As an alumnus of a sorority, Julie also gives her time to support her organization’s UW chapter – engaging the women in learning conversations as they relate to representing the national and local group. Julie promotes friendship, the development of women of intellect and integrity, and enriches lives through community service.
Julie embodies the phrase, “Power Lady Hustle” – she is a strong woman and gets the ish done daily.
