It is a great pleasure to submit Mariam Mead Yaqub for the 2016 Celebrating UW women nominee. I have had the privilege of working with Mariam for the past two years and greatly missed her positive presence and can-do attitude while she and her husband were travelling the globe this past year. I am so glad that Mariam is back at UW in the RD role again because she cares so deeply for the students and staff she works with, and selfishly I truly enjoy spending time with her.
Mariam has been instrumental in implementing positive change for the Residential Life Department, including a co-supervision model for the ACUHO-I Residential Life Supervision intern. Mariam is thoughtful, generous and kind, not to mention frugal and crafty. If everyone were a bit more like Mariam the world would be a better place.
